Special Song Requests and Custom Music Arrangements

Choose songs from Diane's vocal repertoire above or Diane will happily learn your special request.

For special requests, please provide a copy of piano/vocal sheet music, and a CD recording or MP3 sample of the requested song for her to work from. This will help Diane to know if there is a need for a key change or any other music alterations ($30-$50) depends on the music, a quote will be given. Special requests are due in by 3 months before the wedding.

If you have a short order request or can't furnish sheet music, Diane can transcribe music from your recording for an additional fee ($25-$50) depends on the particular music.

Diane offers custom music arrangements of songs for voice, piano, and string instruments. Using Diane's musicians cuts costs from what it would be to hire other groups separately, and then ask Them to transcribe the music, and arrange extra rehearsals etc. Diane offers the simplicity of one music contact person to coordinate everything for you, which makes it easy and fun to get the special music you want. You'll be surprised how affordable it is to include custom music arrangements, and new song requests for your one of a kind ceremony.

Diane Martinson works with musical partner J.J. Saecker (pianist) to provide custom music:
Bio- J.J. Saecker is the head musical arranger and accompanist for Diane Martinson Music, Inc. He has been playing piano since childhood and was performing professionally in popular Wisconsin resorts, including the Heidel House and Tuscumbia, as he finished high school. After completing his BA degree in Music Composition, he moved to Minneapolis where he teamed up with vocalist Diane Martinson. Their Wedding Music Duo, cabaret Jazz Duo and Jazz Swing Combos have been playing together at special events for over 13 years. JJ has also performed with various groups at First Avenue, the Minnesota Music Awards, and the Mill City Music Festival. JJ Saecker has composed music for Theatrical productions in the Twin Cities and at UW Stevens Point, and is a member of ASCAP. He continues to compose and create custom arrangements for jazz combos, classical ensembles, a capella singers, variety bands, and soloists. JJ gets the most sense of fulfillment when he creates musical arrangements and performances of songs that bring out the feel of the original artists and have special meaning for the listeners.

How To Plan the Wedding Ceremony Music

On your wedding day, nothing is more important for creating a beautiful, meaningful ceremony than the music you select. Rather than simply having instrumental music alone, the vocal songs you choose will lift up your celebration to greater heights. That's the powerful advantage of including solos with stirring words set to beautiful music, performed with heartfelt emotion. I offer traditional classical wedding songs, contemporary wedding solos in many styles, and special request new songs. All will enhance the romance and bring special meaning to your ceremony.

While it's true that the majority of people prefer classical music played at the ceremony for the prelude, processional and recessional music, adding a professional singer for the ceremony solos will lift the romantic atmosphere to a more sophisticated level. Another musical advantage of hiring Diane Martinson Musicians is that I provide my custom song arrangements to my instrumental accompanists for a superior musical experience. My unique song arrangements compliment the vocal line and highlight the instrumentation. These renditions are not performed by singers at other weddings. Even my arrangements of the traditional classical songs are optimized for my wedding ceremony performances.

Typically, I have a complimentary music consultation where I will sing and play through music options for you. So there is no need for you to spend a lot of time obtaining wedding music CD's, and picking out all the ceremony music ahead of time. However, if you want to get a start on selecting your vocal solo's and ceremony music, I have included my advice on how to best use my song list in planning the music.

If you do find all the music you would like before we meet (or in place of a consultation if you live out state) that's terrific, just email the selections to me and I will put together a song confirmation for you. Then you will simply need to confirm the selections with your ceremony officiant.

How To Get the Most Out of This Vocal Song Options List:

There are song audio links provided here to help you with song selection (and a few video clips provided on my main wedding page) so that you can get a sense of the songs. Listen to the audio and video provided and if you would like to hear more of a song, or listen to other songs without samples on my list, you can use online search tools to locate a site to hear more. Songs will be recorded by other artists but they will give you an example of the melody and lyrics.

The best tool I have found for listening to music has been the online service Rhapsody. It has a myriad of songs in one place, saving you a lot of time and money over gathering several CD's to sift through. You can hear 30 second samples without signing up. The last time I checked they offered a no-cost 2 week trial period. That would enable you to hear the full songs. There are rules in place as to why most musician web sites can only provide smaller song samples for use on the internet, but that's another discussion.

Now, if a song is not listed on there, you could try looking for it by title on YouTube. There are also no-cost samples of songs that I have found on Amazon, and Barnes & Noble web sites. (I am not connected with Rhapsody, YouTube, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble in any way)

Here's a tip to help simplify your music search. When searching online, type the song title in quotations, for example "All I Ask Of You". Or with search terms like - Listen to "All I Ask Of You" Sarah Brightman or song Lyrics "All I ask of You". The results will give you options for where to find the music and lyrics online.

Remember, if you don't get time to search on your own we can always take care of everything at the consultation. But listening to samples ahead of time will make you more familiar with my music options for your ceremony.

Also, please don't be scared off by a song because the recorded version or lyric sheet might seem too long. We can handle that! I can alter songs by cutting a verse or lengthy instrumental passage to create a perfect version to fit the ceremony. We can talk about this type of adjustment at our consultation.
